High winds do contain a lot of energy, and can produce big waves, but they also tend to be disorganized close outs with a .02 second period, not to mention trying to battle against the wind itself… unless you can find shelter, extremely high winds are rarely ideal for surf. •
Also on a safety note high winds also produce STRONG currents. Never surf in conditions you are not confident in!
